The gifted songstress Helen M was born as Helen Mamotsee Lekgothoane,
on December 29, 1988 in Polokwane,
Limpopo. A product of a complicated pregnancy,
Helen M was not expected to live as her parents were advised by medical
practitioners to abort the pregnancy as it would either kill the mother or the
child. Being a man of faith, Helen’s father refused and turned the situation to
God. The child to be born would grow to be an anointed miracle child with an even miraculous voice, dedicated to the
Lord’s service as a worshiper at church.
A tenth child growing up in the
rural village of Laastehoop (Ga-Molepo)
Helen M’s family although poor were musically inclined. She would begin singing
at Sunday school and
become a worship leader at
Assemblies of God church
by the age of 16.
It wasn’t long before Helen M found
herself in a recording booth recording her first group project with the group New Generations.
In 2009 she moved to Free
State to study Nursing in Welkom. The music bug continued leading
to the recording of her debut album
using bursary money. The album launched in 2012 would
launch the music career of the talent we have now come to know as Helen M.
Shortly after getting married, Helen M and her husband Klaas Majaphage made
the tough decision to sell their land and property and invest in the 2016 live
DVD recording of her 2nd
album, Jesus Alive In Me.
Helen M has worked with Manase Letsoara, recorded with
Family of God Choir leading the songs I'm coming to the Altar as well as Ihanya
Mahala Ka Jesu. She has shared the stage with great talents such as Ayanda Shange as
well as Sechaba to mention a few. Her inspiration is drawn from God meeting her at her point of need and
delivering her from poverty, illness, and more.
With her single being well received on
national radio and television stations, it is only a matter of time before
Helen M becomes a household name in Gospel all over the continent. Remember the
name: Helen M.
